Freewheelers: CycleChic's Caz and her Pashley Poppy

I love the Freewheelers series! In this episode, Chic cyclists from London and beyond should all be familiar with Caz, cycling blogger and Miss 'Cycle Chic' but did you know that her velo of choice is a Pashley Poppy! I know, it makes perfect sense right, beautiful, functional and well beautiful. I found this video which is an oldie but a goodie where Caz explains her love affair with her pale blue Pashley Poppy and her crusade against helmet-hair. Also, loving the pannier - SNAP!

The Make Lounge - Making Lampshades!

A couple of weeks ago, I went to The Make Lounge to try their bespoke lampshade course. I'd been looking for the perfect shade to go on my Graham and Green Tripod lamp (bought sans shade from their warehouse sale for less than half price).

I've gone over to the dark side and painted my living room in Farrow and Ball's Downpipe - partially thanks to Abigail Ahern whom I love! Her sister's flat is my dream home and i have to admit to taking a lot of inspiration from.

Anyway, back to the course... it was amazing and actually really simple. A strip of fabric, some double sided tape and the er, lampshade kit and I was good to go! I wanted something to offset the grey that had a retro feel - what do you think (ignore the mess)?

Please note the fact that my helmet is an interior accessory because it's worth it!
step 1 - choose your fabric, or you are free to bring your own
step 2 - sticking the fabric onto the self adhesive drum shade
step 3 - tucking in the extra fabric to cover the frame
and the other side...

The finished product!

side note: i've since changed my blinds as I broke one of them and then realised that actually white blinds would be nicer convinient huh?!?

Celebrities on Bicycles - oh and Audrey Hepburn...

I'm feeling a bit guilty, I've not blogged forever! I should hang my head in shame and be forever banished from the bloggers community. Or perhaps not, I've been so incredibly busy with a couple of other projects and end of the school year and just life. Also, I blog for fun through my love (hic obsession) with bicycles so I suppose it's okay to occasionally fall off the wagon. However, I'm sorry all. It won't happen again, probably...

I feel like the chic cycling movement (not sure thats the right word but hey ho) is growing and now i see at least 1 or 2 Pashley's or similar, everybody is at it and it gives me such joy. Occasionally a bit too much joy as I'm prone to smiling at strange cyclists and staring and smiling. This is ok when I'm cycling but when I'm in the car or walking, not so much! Apparently there are over 500,000 journeys by bicycle in London every day so I shouldn't be surprised.

Ok, so it's easy to look good on a bicycle right? wrong - unless it's a Pashley in which case the job is done for you!!! However, for the likes of Beyonce, Hilary duff, Hanneli Mustaparta, Lily Cole, Mary Kate Olsen, Marisa Tomei and Helena Christensen it comes naturally - not that I'm jealous or anything...

How chic?
More good news, Mayor Boris Johnson has written to LCC confirming he's told Transport for London to review their Love London, Go Dutch campaign to work out how its principles can be incorporated into the design of new cycling schemes in the capital!
